Bonjour et Bienvenue!

This blog, run by Super-Senior Luke Meyer, is to help show the life of a Ball State student going through everyday college life. With this blog, I hope to help any prospective students decide whether or not this is the right college for them.

Homecoming 2007...Roll Out the Red!

So Homecoming Week 2007 here at good ol' Ball State University has just come to a close! Morale is high and competition was fierce. I have just returned from the BSU vs. W. Kentucky game (quite sunburnt, might I add) where BSU dominated the game; go Cardinals! The week has consisted of Opening Day activities, an amazing bonfire, Talent Search, Music on McKinley, Air Jam, Bed Races, and closed with the parade and game today. I took part in most of these activities throughout the week because of being a part of University Singers. Every year, we are very active in homecoming in hopes of being awarded the coveted Ashley Award. This award is given to the group which earns the most points during the homecoming week. You earn points from participating in the various activities and from winning as well. University Singers, I believe, has won the award 5 of the past 7 years. Throughout the week, I played cornhole, did 2 relay races, did bed races, and marched with the BSU Marching Band in the parade and at the football game. I also watched Talent Search and Air Jam, cheering on friends as they appeared onstage. Here is University Singers at Air Jam this year, where we won the Indepedent category, which is the first in our history.  We also had 2 members of the cast make the Homecoming Royalty Court, which is really exciting for us as well!

Over all, it was an action-packed week and a ton of fun.  Now here are some pics from throughout the week to give you an idea of what goes down.  Enjoy!

The Ball State Drumline (left) and the Code Red Dance Team (right) performed at the Opening Night Activities.

Here I am playing cornhole where my partner and I made it to the semi-finals!  On the right, some cheerleaders wait around as the bonfire begins...

On the left, two of my good friends, Cameron and Tina, sing "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge.  On the right, a yoyo master performs amazing tricks for the crowd.

Finally, we have two photos from Air Jam.  On the left, a group mocks Britney Spears' MTV performance...and yes, that is a live snake.  And on the right, this year's Homecoming king and queen, Kyle Johnson and Lyndsey Adams.
